Information Technologies
With the view to increase the efficiency and optimize business processes, TVEL Fuel Company uses up-to-date information technologies (IT) and solutions

Department of Information Technologies develops and introduces new information systems in accordance with Information Technologies Transformation Program of ROSATOM State Corporation, and with due regard to the needs and development plans of TVEL Fuel Company.

IT Strategy of TVEL Fuel Company

TVEL Fuel Company developed the strategy of information technologies development till 2013 aimed at introducing information technologies to improve the efficiency of management and production activities.

The main directions of development (strategic guidelines) were revised:

  • the vector of IT development was shifted from automation of the financial and economic block (supporting and auxiliary processes) to digitalization of production activities of the enterprises of TVEL Fuel Company. Improvement of the system of products engineering data management (2018-2022) allows switching to work with a "digital double" of the product throughout the life cycle of the Company's products. Digitalization of processes of operational management of discrete manufacturing (2017-2023) and continuous production (2019-2023), as well as automation of maintenance and repair management processes (2018-2022) allow for a systematic increase in labor productivity and a reduction in the cost per unit of output;
  • moving towards centralization of IT solutions at the divisional level, which will reduce the cost of ownership of IT solutions, the costs of their integration, provide the necessary base for unifying business processes in enterprises and, as a result, their transparency, speed and control, improve efficiency of the IT service response to the needs of TVEL Fuel Company business in terms of changing rate in IT solutions.

In IT strategy, a new direction was identified - "Increasing the operational efficiency of the IT function", which integrates all activities (events, projects, organizational changes) aimed at developing and improving the internal processes of IT functions, maximizing their centralization at the divisional level, transition to a customer-oriented service model, commercialization of promising areas of IT development in TVEL Fuel Company.

IT Projects

BI Reporting System

The project implemented in 2016-2017 was named "Information and Analytical System for Monitoring and Analysis of Performance of TVEL Fuel Company".

In order to save time when collecting the data for reporting, for analytical and creative tasks of governance and management the Company developed interactive reports with concisely presented data, grouped in meaning, with elements of infographics (dashboards).

Within the framework of this project, more than 50 dashboards were deployed to monitor such key indicators as revenue, cost, labor productivity, profitability, The users of the system were, first of all, the heads of the product lines and their deputies.

Plans for 2018-2020 include the system development simultaneously with the introduced new information solutions in TVEL Fuel Company such as managing solutions for repair and maintenance, logistical flows, business planning system, budgeting system, and others. The emergence of new sources of data will provide new opportunities for monitoring and analysis of indicators.

Engineering data management related to products of TVEL Fuel Company

In 2017 the Company launched the project "Creation of experimental information and engineering data management system in VNIINM JSC". This project completes the cycle of projects for the formation of a single information space for managing the engineering data about TVEL Fuel Company products.

Within the IT strategy, a group of projects to improve the degree of unification and efficiency of the processes of design and technological preparation are prepared to start-up for all enterprises within the framework of a centralized PDM system in TVEL Fuel Company.

In 2017 Centrotech SPA LLC performed finalization and stabilization of the solution for the integration of PDM and ERP systems which will be used as a prototype for all enterprises of the Fuel Company.

Simulation modelling of production processes

The technology of production simulation is aimed at creating a digital model that describes in detail the technology of the existing or projected production in order to build an ideal flow, to find the optimal layout and composition of process equipment that meet various criteria. In 2017, TVEL Fuel Company started the works on simulation in the framework of its production concentration. The works include description of current production topology and estimation of the maximum possible degree of their compaction in accordance with a number of previously developed criteria.

The Company works out the systematic application of the technology of production systems simulation and reengineering in TVEL Fuel Company and in the industry as a whole.

Production operational management

The Company launched the project "Implementation of the basic functionality of MES in NCCP PJSC" in the reporting year.

The purpose of the project is to automate the processes of operational control of the FA production for power reactors and their components.

Expected effects from the project:

  • Improvement in management of stocks and materials;
  • Reduction of the time of production cycle;
  • Reduction of the volume of work in progress and stocks;
  • Reduction of the time of production planning and dispatching.

Within the framework of the project it is planned to create a standard solution in terms of production management at the Company's enterprises, to move to scaling solutions in organizations and to ensure further enhancement of the system's functionality, including for managing continuous production (production of uranium dioxide powder, fuel pellets, etc.).

BIM technology application

Application of BIM design in industrial facilities as the main platform for design and survey works allows to radically improve the quality and involve the customer, chief designer, general contractor in the design process, allowing in its turn to take into account the features of the site, technological equipment and construction technology at early stages of a project. In 2017, a number of customers added to the design task the requirement to provide an information model for the project. Under these projects, information models of projected industrial objects are being created with varying degrees of detail, including a 3D model of the object, project documentation in 2D format, results of ground-based laser scanning, 4D models of construction organization.

Robotic purchasing activity

In 2017, the Company launched a pilot project to develop and implement a system for intellectual information processing and user activity robotics within the framework of a project to automate the process of preparing a set of procurement documentation.

Within the framework of the project the following tasks will be performed:

  • Automation of verification of the Technical Task for the purchase of logistics;
  • Automated search of price information in open sources of the Internet and BDC (ROSATOM price database);
  • Forming a printing form and sending requests for technical and commercial proposals using software robots;
  • Receipt and text recognition of technical and commercial proposals. Extraction of data and further verification for compliance with the specifications set in SAP ERP TC system;
  • Automatic formation of the price analysis based on the data obtained.

The intelligent information processing and robotization system will be integrated with SAP ERP system of TVEL Fuel Company.
